How to form a habit?

Introduction:

How to form a habit? The only thing that hinders us and comes between we and our goal are our habits, specifically bad habits.
As far as my knowledge as we all are humans and we all struggle daily to accomplish what we want. We all want to complete our target and reach at a level that would satisfy us. But we ever do things or our habits are such that might help us to complete our task and reach to our goal?

This blog is written for those readers who aims to attain a particular position in their x y z field but they are directionless.

What are habits?

Habits are our-those behavior which are tuned with our life in such a way that even if we are not conscious about it, it just happens.

The purest example of our habit can be turning on the lights when we enter bathroom or checking our phone whenever it vibrates.

What are the types of habits?

How to form a habit? Habits can be categorized into two types, if we will understand the types it would be easier for us to classify with what habits we are supposed to go with… there are;

  1. Good Habits, &
  2. Bad Habits.

Habits are classified on the basis of their impact on our behavior, our character or on our future, habits are our those behviors which are synchronized with our life in such a way that it becomes unnoticeable yet very important.

What are good habits? How to identify them?

Good habits are those habits which might help us with our goal in long term, these are generally those habits which might be hard to follow and requires consistency.
The very first step to our goal is finding that good habit which might help us to reach our goal.

Our Goal can be anything, like if I want to lose 20 kg, my good habit can be avoiding more calories intake while in contrary if I want to gain weight my good habit would be intaking more calories.
That is why we can conclude that, the habits vary from person to person &our habits primarily depends on our goals.

In Summary, those habits which might help with our goal are good habits, identification of good habits depends on ourselves – our goals.

What are bad habits? How to identify them?

Bad habits are those which might hinder us from our goals, these are generally dopamine triggering and might be easy to get into.

The very first step to identify our bad habits is, again, by analyzing what we want to achieve i.e., our goals decide what should be in our habit portfolio.

As per the example used earlier for the person who want to lose weight, for that person intaking more calorie can be a bad habit while for the person whose aim is to gain weight for that person avoiding calories would be a bad habit.

In Summary, those habits which might hinders us with our goal are good habits, identification of bad habits depends on ourselves – our goals.

What is the best way to distinguish our habits?

To form a good habit we must have the idea to distinguish them, The best way to distinguish our habits into good and bad ones is by using our maximum senses to remind ourselves about our goals, and by finding if that particular behavior would help us with our goal or not.

The very first step is to determine our goal to work on, our goal should be clear but with that we should have backup plans too.

Refer to our blog on backup plan : Power of Plan B.

Pointing And Calling:

We might use “Pointing and Calling” which is by shouting out the thing that we are doing and its importance in our goal journey.

Suppose if I want to scroll social media in-spite of reading chemistry for the upcoming exams, I would shout to myself and would say that “My exams are there and still I am scrolling social media which might hinder me with my scores.”
(If my goal is scoring better.)

In the above example we are shouting or telling ourselves or reminding ourselves the reality, we are giving ourselves a reality check. Thus, by time if we are really serious about our goal we might stop doing that particular behavior.

Thus, this was for the blog, I hope this might have put some importance in your life. You may check out Atomic Habits by Sir James Clear, it would help you a lot.

Thus, by categorizing them into good and bad habits.

There is no such thing of formation of habits, we are just supposed to give more light to those habits which might help us with our goal / synchronizes with our goals and tadaaa we just formed(found) a good habit.

Blogs are the simplest way to gain knowledge in the quickest way.

Thanks for reading till the end.
